How To Make Your Facebook Profile Picture Unclickable or Private

Do you want to make your Facebook profile picture unclickable or private so that no one can click on it to view it in full size? This is the problem of many Facebook users, but in this article, I’ve come up with a solution.

A few years ago, there was a direct feature to make Facebook profile photo unclickable. But now there’s no such direct option, yet it’s possible, in a different way.

In this blog post, I am sharing two methods to make your Facebook profile photo private or unclickable:

  1. Change the audience of the profile picture
  2. Lock Facebook profile

In this article, I will guide you step by step for both of these methods and tell you which is recommended to make the Facebook profile photo unclickable.

Make Facebook Profile Picture Unclickable: 2 Methods

As mentioned above, I’m going to share with you two methods to make your Facebook profile picture unclickable and private. Let’s check them out one by one:

Method 1. Change the Audience of Profile Picture

If your goal is to make the Facebook profile picture unclickable, this is the best and fastest method. When your Facebook profile picture’s audience is public, anyone can view your profile picture. But, if you want to make it unclickable, you can change it to private.

The steps are almost the same for all the devices (mobile and desktop). The only difference is the interface. Here’s the step-by-step guide to changing the audience of your Facebook profile picture:

  • Go to your Facebook profile page and click on your profile picture to view it large.
  • Now, click on the three horizontal dots and choose the Edit audience/Edit privacy option.

  • A pop-up will open. Set your profile photo audience to ‘Only me‘ from ‘Public’ and click on Save to save the changes.

That’s all. After changing your profile photo audience to Only me, no one will be able to click on your profile photo to view it in large size.

Method 2. Lock Facebook Profile

This is another method to not only make your profile photo unclickable but to lock your whole Facebook profile. So, once you lock your Facebook profile, no one will be able to click your profile picture, check your posts/stories, or do anything else on your profile. Only friends will have access to your open profile.

Steps to lock your Facebook profile:

  • Open your Facebook profile page.
  • Click on the three dots below your cover photo and then click the Lock Profile option.
Lock Facebook profile
  • A pop-up will appear. Click Lock your profile button in the pop-up.

That’s it. Your Facebook profile will be locked, and no one except your friends will be able to look into your profile. If Professional Mode is enabled, you will not see the Lock Profile option. In that case, turn it off, refresh the page, and then follow the above steps.

So, this is how you can make your Facebook profile picture unclickable or private using either of the methods mentioned above. I recommend the first method because it just makes your profile picture unclickable and doesn’t lock your profile completely, unlike the second method of locking your Facebook profile.
