Air India has reinstated its codeshare agreement with Air Canada, reinforcing connectivity between India and Canada and offering travellers greater convenience and choice across both networks. The reinstated partnership, effective December 2, 2025, marks a significant step in strengthening Air India’s international network and its commitment to enhancing seamless global travel through the Star Alliance ecosystem.
Under the renewed agreement, Air India passengers will have access to six destinations in Canada beyond Vancouver and London Heathrow, as the airline places its ‘AI’ designator code on select Air Canada-operated routes.
The partnership includes the following routes:
From Vancouver to Calgary, Edmonton, Winnipeg, Montréal and Halifax
From London Heathrow to Vancouver and Calgary
In return, Air Canada customers will enjoy improved connectivity to Indian destinations via Delhi, with codeshare access to Amritsar, Ahmedabad, Mumbai, Hyderabad and Kochi, as well as connections to Delhi and Mumbai via London Heathrow.
Commenting on the development, Campbell Wilson, Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director, Air India, said, “More than two million people travel between India and Canada every year, as families reunite, students pursue their dreams, and businesses build for tomorrow. The reinstatement of our partnership with Air Canada eases journeys for thousands of them every day moving forward. As a proud Star Alliance member airline, Air India remains committed to the alliance’s purpose of delivering seamless journeys across the globe.”
The agreement offers passengers a range of benefits, including single-ticket itineraries, coordinated baggage handling, and reciprocal frequent flyer rewards. Members of Air India’s Maharaja Club loyalty programme will continue to earn and redeem points across both carriers while enjoying Star Alliance Gold privileges such as priority check-in, additional baggage allowance, and airport lounge access on Air Canada-operated flights.
Subject to regulatory approvals, the reinstated codeshare services will be progressively available through Air India and Air Canada’s booking platforms and partner travel agencies worldwide.
