Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA) achieved a major operational milestone on 21 November 2025, handling a record 1,036 Air Traffic Movements (ATMs) within 24 hours, surpassing its previous best of 1,032 ATMs set on 11 November 2023. The record underscores CSMIA’s efficiency, network strength, and growing role as a leading aviation hub in India.
A total of 1,70,488 passengers travelled through CSMIA on the same day, reflecting sustained momentum in winter travel demand. Of these, 1,21,527 were domestic passengers and 48,961 were international travellers, closely matching the airport’s record of 1,70,516 passengers recorded on 11 January 2025. CSMIA facilitated 86,443 passenger arrivals and 84,045 departures, maintaining smooth operations throughout the day.
The 1,036 air traffic movements included 755 domestic and 281 international flights, comprising approximately 520 arrivals and 516 departures. Key domestic routes contributing to this milestone included Delhi, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad, and Kolkata. On the international front, Dubai, Abu Dhabi, London Heathrow, Doha, and Jeddah emerged as top-performing destinations.
This operational feat demonstrates CSMIA’s capacity to manage high volumes efficiently, supported by advanced infrastructure and coordinated ground operations. Continuous enhancements in airport systems, from the upgraded Airport Operations Control Centre (AOCC) to digital passenger facilitation tools, have been central to this success.
In recent months, CSMIA has expanded its self-baggage drop units, self-check-in kiosks, and DigiYatra adoption across terminals, enabling faster and more seamless passenger processing. Additionally, the airport’s focus on digital transformation and sustainability continues to drive improved efficiency and traveller convenience.
The latest record reinforces CSMIA’s status as one of India’s busiest and most technologically advanced airports. With continued growth in domestic and international traffic, the airport remains a key gateway connecting India with major global destinations, setting new benchmarks for performance and passenger experience.
