Parth Salunkhe stunned Olympics and World championships medallists Mete Gazoz and Kim Je Deok on his way to enter the recurve men’s individual semifinals at the Archery World Cup Stage-2 in Shanghai on Friday.

Deepika Kumari, who beat Olympics silver medallist Li Jiaman, reached the women’s semifinals.

The results:

Individual: Recurve: Men: B.Dhiraj lost to Abdullah Yildirmis (Tur) 6-5 (shoot-off: 10-9) (first round); Atanu Das bt Christian Stoddard (USA) 7-3 (first round), bt Kwok Yin Chai (Hkg) 7-1 (second round), bt Wang Yan (Chn) 6-4 (third round), lost to Kim Woo Jin (Kor) 6-2 (quarterfinal); Parth Salunkhe bt Mete Gazoz (Tur) 6-5 (10-9) (first round), bt Aoshima Tetsuya (Jpn) 6-5 (10-8) (second round), Ryan Tyack (Aus) 6-2 (pre-quarterfinal), bt Kim Je Deok (Kor) 6-2 (quarterfinals); Tarundeep Rai lost to Tetsuya 6-5 (9*-9, closer to center) (first round).

Women: Ankita Bhakat bt Karina Kozlowska (Pol) 6-0 (first round), bt Huyen Diep Trieu (Vie) 6-0 (second round), lost to Lim Sihyeon (Kor) 7-3 (pre-quarterfinals); Deepika Kumari bt Lucia Ibanez Romero (Spn) 6-4 (first round), Diana Tursunbek (Kaz) 6-0 (second round), bt Victoria Sebastian (Fra) 6-4 (pre-quarterfinal), bt Li Jiaman (Chn) 6-2 (quarterfinal); Anshika Kumari lost to Elisa Tartler (Ger) 6-5 (10-9) (first round); Simranjeet Kaur lost to Uehara Ruka (Jpn) 7-3 (first round).

Mixed Team: Recurve: India (Deepika, Dhiraj) got a bye (first round), lost to Spain 5-1 (pre-quarterfinals); Compound: India (Madhura Dhamangaonkar, Abhishek Verma) got a bye (first round), bt Singapore (pre-quarterfinals), bt USA 160-158 (quarterfinals), lost to Grain Britain 158-156 (semifinals), to meet Malaysia in bronze medal match.
