The Indian Air Force’s Surya Kiran Aerobatic Team on Saturday shared a striking video from Dubai, showing its aircraft sweeping over the emirate’s skyline as the team prepares for its participation in the Dubai Airshow. The flypast, recorded from the cockpit, captured formations over the city’s landmarks and was posted on social media with a message celebrating the spirit, precision and excellence of the Indian Air Force.
“Soaring over the stunning Dubai skyline, the Suryakirans proudly showcase the spirit, precision and excellence of the Indian Air Force,” the team wrote on X, adding that it was an “incredible experience” to fly over the iconic landscape as preparations continue for the airshow scheduled between November 17 and 21.
The IAF’s Media Coordination Centre later confirmed that a full Indian Air Force contingent, comprising the Surya Kiran Aerobatic Team and Tejas fighter aircraft, has arrived at Dubai’s Al Maktoum Airbase for the global aviation event. The Dubai Airshow will see participation from more than 100 air forces and is aimed at enhancing interoperability, improving operational coordination and expanding both military and aerospace industry partnerships.

Formed in 1996, the Surya Kiran Aerobatic Team is one of the very few nine-aircraft display teams in the world and the only one in Asia. Flying the Hawk Mk 132 aircraft, SKAT has performed more than 500 displays in India and has showcased IAF’s professionalism at international airshows in China, Sri Lanka, Myanmar, Thailand, Singapore and the UAE. Their routines involve close formation flying, loops, barrel rolls, crossovers and high-precision manoeuvres that demand intense coordination and meticulous planning.
The team operates with the motto “Sadaiva Sarvottam”, meaning “Always the Best”, which reflects its emphasis on discipline, teamwork and excellence in aerial display. The Tejas fighters accompanying the contingent are expected to take part in aerial and static displays.
