Emirates, the world’s largest international airline, has announced a major order for 65 additional Boeing 777-9 aircraft, powered by GE9X engines, valued at USD 38 billion at list prices, on the opening day of the Dubai Airshow 2025.
The deal strengthens Emirates’ position as the world’s largest customer and operator of the Boeing 777 family and underscores its long-term partnership with both Boeing and GE Aerospace.
With this order, Emirates’ total Boeing orderbook now stands at 315 widebody aircraft, including 270 Boeing 777Xs, 10 Boeing 777 freighters, and 35 Boeing 787 Dreamliners. The airline’s orderbook with GE Aerospace rises to 540 GE9X engines, including the additional 130 units signed today.
Emirates’ latest commitment also provides crucial backing for Boeing’s feasibility study on the 777-10, a new high-capacity variant of the 777X family. The agreement includes options for Emirates to convert part of its latest 777-9 order to either the 777-10 or 777-8, depending on market requirements.
Strategic Growth Commitment
HH Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman and Chief Executive, Emirates Airline and Group, said:
“Emirates is already the world’s largest Boeing 777 operator and we are expanding our commitment to the programme today with additional orders worth USD 38 billion for 65 Boeing 777-9s, and 130 GE9X engines. This is a long-term commitment and testament to our partnership with Boeing and GE, and to US aerospace.
“Each of our aircraft on order has been carefully factored into Emirates’ expansion plan, which aligns with Dubai’s growth vision. Flying a young and modern fleet with innovative cabin products has always been central to our strategy. We look forward to taking delivery of our first 777-9s from Q2 2027 and equipping them with state-of-the-art, industry-leading products.”
On Boeing’s feasibility study for the 777-10, Sheikh Ahmed added:
“Emirates has long advocated for larger, more efficient aircraft, especially with growing traffic and airport constraints. We fully support Boeing’s development of the 777-10 and have the flexibility to convert our latest 777-9 order accordingly.”

Global Impact
Over its 40-year history, Emirates has operated every model in the Boeing 777 family and today flies the world’s largest 777 fleet, comprising 119 Boeing 777-300ERs, 10 777-200LRs, and 11 777 freighters, connecting Dubai to over 140 cities worldwide.
Following this latest order, Emirates’ Boeing aircraft deliveries will extend to 2038, reinforcing a long-term industrial partnership that supports tens of thousands of US aerospace jobs across states including Washington, Texas, Alabama, Kansas, and Ohio, where Boeing and GE9X production facilities are located.
