The number of monetising creators and video publishers on Facebook in India has grown more than 35% year-on-year, and their revenue has grown by more than 160%, Facebook announced today while launching a creator education programme in India, as it looks to build a strong creator economy around its family of apps.
Tell me more: Creator Day India included keynotes from Instagram head Adam Mosseri, who spoke about the success of Reels in India, the importance of India as a market, and Facebook’s plans to help creators earn a living on the platform. He also highlighted the value of having a family of apps that creators can use to build their communities.
‘Born-on-Instagram’, for instance, is a self-paced e-learning certification programme, available to all users, that aims to teach Instagram creators how to grow their communities and earn more. It offers live masterclasses with experts, and information on the latest trends, product updates, and challenges. It will also help creators earn more through various rewards and brand partnerships.
Quote: “Creators across India are shaping popular culture, and we are proud that our platforms play a big role in unleashing their creativity and helping them earn a living. The building blocks of a creator economy are coming into place. And we are keen to lean in to enable creators to learn, earn and grow their communities on our platforms,” said Ajit Mohan, vice-president and managing director at Facebook India.
Tapping the creator economy: The creator economy is a huge, largely unexplored market, one that all the major platforms are keen to tap.
