Akasa Air has announced enhancements to its pet travel service, ‘Pets on Akasa,’ introducing additional flexibility and convenience for passengers travelling with pets. The airline will now permit two pets to travel in the cabin on a single flight, an increase from the earlier limit of one, and has reduced the booking window to 24 hours before departure.

Since its launch in November 2022, Pets on Akasa has seen strong uptake, with over 8,500 pets flown across the airline’s domestic network. The airline noted that customer feedback has played a central role in shaping the service, resulting in earlier policy changes such as extending the validity of pet travel certificates to 15 days and raising the permissible cabin weight for pets, including the carrier, to 10 kg.

Akasa Air passengers travelling with pets benefit from additional services including pre-booked window seats, priority check-in and baggage delivery, and the option to board first. Staff across call centres, airports and in-flight teams have undergone specialised training to ensure a safe and comfortable experience for pets and owners.

The airline has also partnered with Umeed for Animals Foundation, a Gurgaon-based non-profit focused on rescue and rehabilitation, to align with best practices in animal care and safety.

Currently, Pets on Akasa is available on flights across 24 domestic cities, including Mumbai, Delhi, Bengaluru, Chennai, Kochi, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Guwahati, Lucknow and Goa. Bookings can be made via the Akasa Air Care Centre at +91 9606 11 21 31, or by contacting pets@akasaair.com

Akasa Air operates with a brand-new fleet, offering features such as USB ports on most aircraft, spacious seating, and its onboard dining service Café Akasa. The airline has also introduced several accessibility and passenger-first initiatives, including Braille menu and safety cards, and services like SkyScore, SkyLights and QuietFlights.

The enhancements to Pets on Akasa underline the airline’s continued investment in inclusive travel and its growing role in shaping pet-friendly air journeys in India.
