Long-distance runner Kartik Kumar, who tested positive for multiple banned substances in out-of-competition tests during his training in the USA, has accepted a three-year period of ineligibility.

A Hangzhou Asian Games 10,000m silver medallist, Kartik, who trained with star long distance runner Gulveer Singh and others in Colorado Springs under coach Scott Simmons, was tested on March 19 by the USA Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) following a tip-off.

Since the 26-year-old admitted the anti-doping rule violation within the stipulated period, his suspension period was reduced by a year.

Kartik’s three-year suspension began on April 10, 2025, the date of his provisional suspension. All his results are disqualified and the subsequent medals, points and prizes he earned stand forfeited from February 27, the date his first positive sample was collected.
