SITA and Amadeus Join Forces with AACO for Enhanced Emissions Transparency in Air Travel, ETTravelWorld

In a landmark move toward aviation sustainability, SITA and Amadeus, under the patronage of the Arab Air Carriers Organization (AACO), have announced a collaboration to explore more accurate, flight-specific greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions calculations. The initiative aims to strengthen transparency across the travel ecosystem and empower both airlines and passengers to make environmentally conscious choices.

The partnership combines two of the industry’s most advanced sustainability platforms: SITA Eco Mission, which leverages real aircraft performance and operational data for precise emissions and fuel-burn analysis, and the Amadeus Travel Impact Suite, which aggregates carbon emissions data from multiple recognised standards and sources. Together, these systems create a data-driven framework to provide detailed, verifiable emissions information across the air travel value chain.

The joint effort underscores how data collaboration and technology integration can support aviation’s global decarbonisation goals while building trust between carriers and travellers. The initiative also aims to facilitate credible climate action through accurate reporting and measurable carbon offsetting strategies.

Abdul Wahab Teffaha, Secretary General, AACO, said: “We are proud that Amadeus and SITA have joined forces to deliver solutions that help the aviation industry and its customers optimise operational costs while engaging passengers on sustainability through accurate, data-driven transparency. Their collaboration will play a key role in advancing environmental sustainability and strengthening the bond between airlines and their customers.”

Yann Cabaret, CEO, SITA for Aircraft, added: “Trust between passengers and airlines begins with transparency. By combining Amadeus’ travel technology with SITA’s operational data, we’re exploring how verified information can give both parties greater confidence in sustainability reporting. It’s an important first step toward real progress.”

Maher Koubaa, Executive Vice President, Travel Unit and Managing Director, EMEA, Amadeus, said: “This collaboration ensures the industry has relevant, accurate, and transparent sustainability data. By integrating verified insights into our open, partner-agnostic platform, we aim to help airlines and travellers make better-informed environmental decisions.”

As the aviation industry faces mounting regulatory pressures and passenger demand for sustainability transparency, this initiative highlights how collaboration across technology, data, and operational domains can convert climate ambitions into tangible, measurable results.

The SITA–Amadeus–AACO alliance reflects a broader shift within aviation — one where shared data and collective innovation drive the sector toward a more sustainable and accountable future.
