South Africa’s Tristan Stubbs doffed his hat to his IPL teammate (Delhi Capitals) Kuldeep Yadav for the way the left-arm wrist spinner dismissed him on the opening day of the second test here on Saturday.

“He beat me in the drift, that’s sort of why my hands got away. I was not looking for one more (to get to 50),” said Stubbs, who was dismissed on 49.

Quite impressive

“Just the drift and my hands sort of followed it. On a day one pitch, that’s probably how he’s trying to get you out, but for him to bowl that first ball of a new spell, I thought it was quite impressive.”

The 25-year-old also felt that his team’s batters should have done better in covering their starts after none of them managed a half-century so far.

“I definitely think it’s a better wicket for batting, you can bat time, but you look up and the scoreboard’s sort of gone nowhere,” added Stubbs, who was the highest scorer for his side so far.

“I do think they bowl quite well, the seamers especially, just kept bowling straight lines, attack the stumps, and they sort of bowl to contain, so I think they bowl nicely, but all of us had opportunities, and if you look at it, no one kicked on, so we can take that on ourselves.”
