The T20 Mumbai League will return after a six-year hiatus, with the third edition set to begin on May 26. The league will continue to have eight owners, just like its second edition in 2019, with two new team owners in Sobo Mumbai Falcons and the Mumbai South Central.

The Roadway Solutions India Infra Ltd. secured the operating rights of Team Sobo Mumbai Falcons for ₹82 crore, while Royal Edge Sports & Entertainment acquired the team representing Mumbai South Central region for ₹57 crore. The previous owners — Shivaji park Lions and Sobo Supersonics — had backed out with the league having returned following a prolonged break due to the Covid pandemic.

“We are confident that the league will return with a bang and will provide a platform for Mumbai cricketers to showcase their talent,” Ajinkya Naik, the Mumbai Cricket Association president, said after welcoming Rohit Sharma as the brand ambassador for T20 Mumbai Season Three.

Each team will be allotted an icon player based on the draw of lots. The eight icon players that have been finalised are Suryakumar Yadav, Shreyas Iyer, Ajinkya Rahane, Shardul Thakur, Shivam Dube, Tushar Deshpande, Prithvi Shaw and Tanush Kotian.

Each icon player will be allotted a fixed sum of Rs. 15 lakh. Including the icon player, the auction purse for a team will be Rs. 1 crore, with a maximum squad size of 18 players.

The teams: Sobo Mumbai Falcons (Roadway Solutions India Infra Ltd.), Mumbai South Central (Royal Edge Sports & Entertainment), North Mumbai Panthers (Horizon Sports India Private Limited), ARCS Andheri (Arcs Sports & Entertainment Private Limited), Triumph Knights Mumbai North East (Transcon Triumph Knights Private Limited), Namo Bandra Blasters (Pk Sports Ventures Private Limited), Eagle Thane Strikers (Eagle Infra India Ltd.) and Aakash Tigers Mumbai Western Suburbs (World Star Premier League LLP).
