A resurgent Kolkata Knight Riders will look to continue its winning momentum and close its home run with another victory as it faces bottom-placed Chennai Super Kings in an IPL fixture at the Eden Gardens here on Wednesday.
The defending champion displayed resilience to beat Delhi Capitals and Rajasthan Royals and stay in the play-offs race.
KKR will be confident after recording two 200-plus totals. Andre Russell and Rinku Singh’s blitzkrieg against RR has empowered it, whereas top-scorer Ajinkya Rahane and young Angkrish Raghuvanshi’s consistency has stood out.
However, Rahmanullah Gurbaz, Venkatesh Iyer and Ramandeep Singh will seek improvement. Bowlers, including reliable hands Varun Chakaravarthy, Sunil Narine, Harshit Rana and Vaibhav Arora, have served the side well.
With nothing to lose, CSK will be keen on stopping its four-match losing streak by exacting revenge.
Scarcity for runs
CSK has struggled for runs. It’s reflected in the fact that only Ravindra Jadeja and Shivam Dube have scored in excess of 200.

The emergence of Ayush Mhatre, who narrowly missed out on a century against Royal Challengers Bengaluru, is a positive for the five-time champion. Sam Curran and Dewald Brevis have shown their mettle with the bat.
Left-arm wrist-spinner Noor Ahmad, pacers Khaleel Ahmed and Matheesha Pathirana have shouldered the maximum load of CSK’s bowling.
The host may feel like the visitor on Wednesday, with the possibility of perpetual M.S. Dhoni fans deserting KKR to back their beloved icon, perhaps for one last time at the Eden.
Another high-scoring cliff-hanger, following KKR’s one-run win over RR, will be a special treat.
