You simply need to open Google Maps and let it access your location.

There your current position is shown by default. 

You need to tap the blue dot that marks your spot where your latitude and longitude will be displayed at the top of the screen.

This needs to be copied and you can send them via SMS.

In case Google Maps app is not able to access your current location, then preinstall a Compass App on your phone and repeat the same process to avoid last-minute hassles.
