Santhanam Steps Into The supernatural Again With Devil’s Double Next Level

Santhanam is back to haunt—and tickle—audiences with his signature blend of wit and wackiness in Devil’s Double Next Level, the fourth installment in the hugely popular Dhilluku Dhuddu series. The whacky trailer of the film, which was released recently by its team teases a fresh and wildly creative premise that pushes the franchise into new territory.

Santhanam Takes on Spirits and Spoofs in His Latest Horror-Comedy

Helmed by S Prem Anand, the story follows a brash film critic, played by Santhanam, who finds himself mysteriously sucked into a movie universe created by a ghostly filmmaker—none other than Selvaraghavan.

In this eerie alternate reality, Selvaraghavan’s spirit lays down a bizarre ultimatum: Santhanam must abandon his career as a critic if he wants to escape. What follows is a hilarious and haunting ride, as our reluctant hero navigates ghostly traps, horror movie clichés, and satirical jabs at the film industry itself.

The trailer hints at a self-aware tone, packed with meta-commentary, genre parodies, and clever nods to the past works of the actors involved—particularly Gautham Vasudev Menon and Selvaraghavan, who join the cast in pivotal roles.

A Starry Cast and A Genre-Bending Plot

Devil’s Double Next Level—also known simply as DD Next Level—features a talented ensemble including Geethika Tiwary, Yashika Aannand, Nizhalgal Ravi, Maaran, Rajendran, and Kasthuri Shankar. Backing the project is actor Arya, producing under his home banner.

The technical crew behind the film includes music composer OfRo, cinematographer Dipak Kumar Padhy, and editor Barath Vikraman. From what we’ve seen, the film promises a polished visual experience paired with a pulsating soundtrack and sharp cuts that enhance both its horror and humour.

The film is scheduled to release on May 16, and it won’t be confined to just Tamil audiences. It’s getting a multi-language rollout, with dubbed versions set to hit screens in Telugu and Hindi as well—marking the franchise’s growing pan-Indian appeal.

A Legacy of Laughter and Chills

The Dhilluku Dhuddu series began in 2016 and has steadily built a loyal fan base. Known for blending horror tropes with slapstick comedy and irreverent humour, the films have enjoyed consistent box-office success. With DD Returns in 2023, director Prem Anand took the reins from original creator Rambhala, and now he’s back to deliver what could be the franchise’s most ambitious installment yet.
