Odela 2, starring Tamannaah Bhatia, released on April 17, 2025. But the supernatural thriller failed to leave a mark at the box office. This prompted Odela 2 for an early OTT release – Amazon had announced that the film will be available on OTT platform from May 8 — three weeks from the date of its theatrical release. The film will be available in Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, Kannada, and Hindi versions.
Tamannaah’s character was designed well
If a film is available for streaming on OTT platforms within three weeks of its theatrical release, it’s a clear indication of its poor box office performance. Recently, many Tollywood films that failed theatrically made their way to the OTT very quickly. The Tamannaah-starrer is now following suit. In fact, Odela 2’s digital release did not come as a surprise for the audiences because of the film’s meager run at the ticket window.
Tamannaah dazzles as Naga Sadhu
The first installment of the Odela franchise was a hit, so there was a lot riding on the sequel. Tamannaah’s character as a fierce Naga Sadhu, a spiritual warrior who confronts horrifying ordeals in a rural setting, was well designed by the director. The actress too aced her looks and character which has set the expectations high. But poor writing and screenplay marred the film. Although director Ashok Teja was lauded for some intense and high-octane scenes, Sampath Nandi was criticized for his writing and outdated screenplay. But those who wanted to catch up with Tamannaah’s dazzling performance, they can watch it on OTT starting from Thursday. The filmmakers are hoping that the supernatural thriller will strike a chord with the audience on OTT. There are instances in the past where films that did not do well theatrically were lapped up by the audiences on OTT. Perhaps, Odela 2 filmmakers are hoping that the film will do well digitally.
