All the actors confirmed for the Harry Potter series
Conclave and The Crown actor John Lithgow is all set to play Albus Dumbledore. Janet McTeer will play a young Minerva McGonagall, I May Destroy You star Paapa Essiedu has been cast as Severus Snape, while Nick Frost will take on the role of Hagrid. Luke Thallon is set to play Quirinus Quirrell, while Paul Whitehouse will play Argus Filch in recurring roles.

In a statement, showrunner and executive producer, Francesca Gardiner and Mark Mylod, director of multiple episodes and executive producer said, “We are happy to announce the casting of John Lithgow, Janet McTeer, Paapa Essiedu, Nick Frost, Luke Thallon and Paul Whitehouse to play Dumbledore, McGonagall, Snape, Hagrid, Quirrell and Filch. We’re delighted to have such extraordinary talent onboard, and we can’t wait to see them bring these beloved characters to new life.”
About HBO’s Harry Potter series
The series is written by Gardiner, who also serves as showrunner and executive producer. As per the official description, the show is about “exploring every corner of the wizarding world, each season will bring ‘Harry Potter’ and its incredible adventures to new and existing audiences.” It is expected to be a faithful adaptation of J.K. Rowling’s books. So far, the main characters – Harry, Ron and Hermione – have not been cast yet. Filming is set to begin later this summer.
