Pedro Pascal continues to make headlines at the Cannes Film Festival—this time, not for his fashion choices, but for a tongue-in-cheek comment that’s stirred a heated debate online. The Materialists actor, who recently went viral just for flashing his arms on the red carpet, is now under scrutiny after co-star Dakota Johnson revealed that he jokingly suggested she start an OnlyFans account.
In a recent chat with Elle UK, Dakota recalled, “Pedro Pascal told me to start an OnlyFans… that I could just wiggle my toe and make money. Should I do that?” The lighthearted remark, though clearly intended as a joke, prompted a flurry of reactions on social media. OnlyFans, a paid subscription platform widely associated with adult content, has often sparked debate over its mainstream appeal and implications.
While Dakota herself appeared amused by the suggestion, some netizens weren’t. One X (formerly Twitter) user commented, “Who says that to a woman?” Another added, “I always knew this guy was a f*ing weirdo.” Critics argued that even jokes should be more thoughtful, with one user posting, “That’s weird and not funny.”
On the other hand, many jumped to Pedro’s defense, slamming the overreaction. “Why tf are ppl getting so pissed in the comments? It’s just a joke lol,” said one user. Others noted the quote was taken out of context and never meant to be sexual. “He probably wasn’t referring to anything explicit — people need to chill,” wrote a fan. Another added, “Pedro has this quirky humour. It’s harmless.”
