One of the significant aspects amid these challenging times is that Payal’s father encourages her to keep working and get back to work (shoots and events). As she navigates through this difficult journey, Payal wants to share the update with everyone and seek everyone’s love, support, and positive vibes as they mean the world to her. “We are hopeful for his recovery, and every blessing counts as we face this battle against cancer together,” says Payal, speaking to Filmfare.

“My father had just completed 1st session of chemotherapy. Doctors said that we can fight. My father is staying strong and stubborn, but the said effects of the treatment is something to deal with,” shared Payal, stating that she is presently going through a lot of emotions. “I know there’s stress but seeing my dad from close quarters for the first time going through the treatment and how he is fighting back is taking a toll on me.”

According to the actress, one of the reasons she shared the news on social media is to let everyone know about her father’s health. “Even though I am at shooting spots, my father’s health has been at the back of my mind and it’s tough to focus. But my father asks me to go work, and I am slowly trying to get through and let the emotions flow.” The actress states that she is mustering courage from her dad’s inspiring talk. When you see your loved ones going through a lot, you naturally want to be there, she adds. “Right now, my motive is to make him feel better. After three sessions of chemotherapy, he will have to undergo a surgery – 25 days after the third session – doctors said that it is curable and treatable,” the actress reveals.

While it’s nearly three weeks since the treatment had started, Payal recalls that the initial days were traumatic. She didn’t know what to do, she was agitated and edgy, unable to control her emotions and stress. “Later, I realised that this is not the approach I should employ going forward. I started meditating and calmed down, and I am grateful for the kind of blessings I have been receiving.”
Payal states that the side effects of chemotherapy have been severe for her 65-year-old father. While stating that she’s prepared for the long healing process, she is hoping that her father can fight back. When asked whether she received any support from the film industry, Payal responded in the affirmative. A lot of people have been messaging her and she is thankful for their emotional support. “A lot of fans and co-stars messaged me expressing their solidarity. Many said that it’s going to be fine and shared their stories of what their dear ones went through during the treatment. Those stories gave me a bit of confidence and made me realise that we can weather the storm.” Payal maintains that work is the only thing that keeps her occupied. She wants to build confidence and get going.
