Bengaluru Stampede Live Updates: 11 Killed Outside Chinnaswamy Stadium, RCB Mourns Tragedy

Bengaluru Stampede News Live: A stampede-like situation occurred near Bengaluru’s Chinnaswamy Stadium on Wednesday, where people were celebrating Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s (RCB) in IPL 2025. At least 11 people have been killed and 33 others injured in the chaos.

Celebrations had erupted across Bengaluru after the RCB defeated Punjab Kings (PBKS) in the IPL final on Tuesday to win their maiden IPL title after an agonising 18-year wait. However, the joyful moment was beset by tragedy after a stampede near the cricket stadium, where RCB players were set to be felicitated by Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah.

Siddaramaiah said at least 2-3 lakh people had arrived at the venue to see the victory event, and authorities did not expect such a huge crowd. He ordered a probe into the tragedy. Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed condolences over the loss of lives, calling it “absolute heartrending”.

The BJP accused the Congress government of “criminal negligence” and demanded the resignation of Siddaramaiah, deputy CM DK Shivakumar and others for poor management and crowd control. The government defended itself and the police, saying they did not expect such a large crowd.

RCB clinched victory over Punjab Kings by six runs in the IPL final at Ahmedabad on Tuesday to clinch their maiden title, marking another major achievement for the team’s talisman Virat Kohli, who has only played for this franchise since the league’s inaugural season in 2008.
