Mumbai terror attack accused Tahawwur Rana is scheduled to reach India this afternoon. He is likely being brought to India in a special flight after all hurdles for his extradition were removed by the US, a source said. Sources added that the 26/11 Mumbai terror attack accused is likely to be lodged in a high-security ward in Tihar jail when he reaches India. Rana is being brought to India after his last-ditch attempt to evade extradition failed as the US Supreme Court justices rejected his application.

The special flight carrying Tahawwur Hussain Rana, who is accompanied by a special team of intelligence and investigative officials, left at around 7:10 pm India time on Wednesday and is expected to land this afternoon.

Once Rana lands in Delhi, he will be officially arrested by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) and will be lodged at the Tihar jail, where all the preparations for his stay have been completed. Heightened security has been put in place around the central prison in view of Rana’s extradition.
