Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) supremo and former chief minister Mayawati’s niece has filed serious allegations against her in-laws. Alice has accused her in-laws of pressuring her to have physical relations with his husband’s elder brother to conceive a child, claiming her husband is impotent.

She also filed a dowry harassment complaint against nine persons, including her husband, mother-in-law, the municipal council chairperson and father-in-law, in the Hapur district.

According to reports, the victim’s in-laws reside in Bank Colony in the Kotwali area of Hapur. Alice claimed that despite multiple complaints to the local police station and the Superintendent of Police, no report was registered. She accused her in-laws of demanding Rs 50 lakh as dowry and a flat in Ghaziabad while claiming that her husband, Vishal Singh, was impotent.

Later, a case was registered against seven named accused, including her husband, following a court order. The complainant’s mother-in-law, Pushpa Devi, had once contested an assembly election on a BSP ticket.

Mayawati has nine siblings. She has six brothers—Siddharth, Naresh, Subhash, Titu, Rajkumar and Anand Kumar, who is BSP’s national vice-president- and two sisters. Alice is the daughter of Naresh. She married Vishal on November 9, 2023.

After the marriage, Alice’s husband Vishal, father-in-law Shripal Singh, mother-in-law Pushpa Devi, brother-in-law Bhupendra (alias Monu), sister-in-law Nisha, husband’s sister Shivani, and maternal uncle-in-law Akhilesh reportedly began demanding additional dowry, including an apartment and 50 lakh rupees.

They said that she was related to the BSP chief who had no dearth of money. So, she could easily arrange Rs 50 lakh and a flat.

In her complaint, Alice also alleged that her husband used to take steroid injections for body building before marriage, and he was rendered impotent, after which he began living separately from her.

The victim said when she raised the issue with her mother-in-law and sister-in-law, they threatened her and even asked her to get a child through Vishal’s elder brother, Bhupendra.

According to the victim, on February 17, 2025, her brother-in-law, Bhupendra and father-in-law, Shripal, allegedly beat her brutally and attempted to sexually assault her.

Alice reported the incident to her parents and filed a police complaint on February 18. However, she claims no action was taken due to her mother-in-law’s influence. She also sent a registered complaint to the SP, Hapur on March 21, but it didn’t yield any results.

After failing to get justice from both quarters, the victim approached the court. The police have now registered a case against the accused following the court’s order.

SP Gyananjay Singh said a case was registered, and action would be taken against the accused after the probe. The FIR was lodged against the accused under sections 85, 115(2), 352, 351(2), 74,75,76, 3 and 4 of BNS.
