Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha said on Wednesday that terrorism had been the biggest enemy of the youth of Jammu and Kashmir for over three decades, destroying their dreams and aspirations.
He noted that now the youth and young professionals are fulfilling their dreams and achieving their aspirations. Speaking at the valedictory function of the Islamic University of Science and Technology’s Foundation Day, the Lieutenant Governor mentioned that “our neighbouring country and some terrorist elements within are attempting to disrupt this progress”. He emphasised the need to be vigilant against such threats and work together to thwart their efforts.
His remarks came against the backdrop of this week’s terror attack at the Red Fort, with investigations revealing links to J&K.
“Jammu and Kashmir has crafted a new destiny, a new identity, and new dreams. This must be protected at all costs, and those trying to shatter the dreams of our youth must be dealt with strictly,” the lieutenant governor stated.
Later, while inaugurating the International Film Festival of Srinagar, Sinha urged filmmakers to create films that narrate the ordeal of terror victims, expose the ringleaders of the terror ecosystem, and showcase the transformation after August 2019.
He stressed the importance of exposing the enemies of peace by providing information to the police and security agencies so that “the entire terror ecosystem hiding within society can be neutralised and a strong response can be given to the evil intentions of the neighbouring country”.
The lieutenant governor highlighted that after 5-6 years of tireless, dedicated work and many sacrifices by the J&K Police, Army, Intelligence, and Security Forces, a fear-free environment has been created in Jammu and Kashmir, establishing a safe, supportive, and inclusive system for the youth to realise their dreams. He stated that society must come together to guard this peace, progress, joy, and renewed hope.
“We must eliminate every single terror element within society to fully restore peace. This effort requires the cooperation of all sections of the public,” the lieutenant governor concluded.
