Consistent performances at the U-23 level earned Sachin Yadav a spot in Rajasthan’s Ranji Trophy squad, and as the youngster broke into the playing eleven in a ‘big game’ against Mumbai, he gave it his all to prove a point.
While he fell eight runs short of a century due to a horrible mix-up with Deepak Hooda, the opening batter believes that these heartbreaks will make him a tougher cricketer. “Such things happen in cricket. Since it was my debut match, a bigger score would have meant much more, but it’s part and parcel of the game and I will learn from it,” Sachin told The Hindu.
Having reached the nineties, Sachin hurried up a bit and had to pay the price, and he admits that it would have been ideal to slow things down and reach the milestone. “In the hindsight, I should have taken a bit more time since it’s a four-day game and built on, but it did not happen,” he rued.
Last month, Sachin scored 151 against Mumbai in the Col CK Nayudu U-23 Trophy Elite tournament, and that knock motivated him. “I treat every match as just another game, and the rest is up to the selectors. I can only focus on my game and I do that,” Sachin said.
Hailing from the Alwar district, Sachin started early and his father, a government clerk, supported him to the hilt as he moved to Jaipur a decade ago, to chase his dreams.
