T.J. Srinivasaraj was elected unopposed as the President of the Tamil Nadu Cricket Association (TNCA) for a three-year term (2025-28) in the General Elections conducted at the M.A. Chidambaram stadium here on Sunday.
Srinivasaraj is the Managing Director of Freight Consol International Pvt Ltd, and Freyer International Logistics Pvt Ltd, which supports five teams in the TNCA league (two in the first division – Nelson SC and Sea Hawks CC). Freyer has also been sponsoring TNCA’s women’s challengers (one-day and T20) competitions since 2022.
M. Kumaresh and R. Rangarajan were also elected unopposed as the Vice-President and Treasurer, respectively.
In the contested positions, former Apex Council member U. Bhagwandas Rao was elected Secretary, defeating S. Prabhu. K. Sriram prevailed over A.S. Rangarajan to secure the post of Joint Secretary, while C. Mareeswaran overcame Kalidas Vandiyar and K.S. Srinivasan to be elected Assistant Secretary.
Addressing the media, Srinivasaraj stated that there is “abundant talent in the districts” and added that his administration “wants to bring that talent out.”
He said that the Chepauk ground, which has been getting a makeover for the 2026 T20 World Cup, “will be ready in 30 to 40 days.”
He further said that the newly inaugurated Velammal cricket stadium in Madurai, developed by the Velammal Educational Group, and the stadium being developed by the State government in Coimbatore don’t have the possibility of hosting international matches “for now.”
Asked if the Madurai stadium will get to host the TNPL matches, he said: “That is still in consideration. We have not decided yet. We have to hold talks.” He stated that neither ground is tied up with the TNCA yet.
