While impressing everyone with his consistency and flexibility in the Indian Premier League this season, young Kolkata Knight Riders batter Angkrish Raghuvanshi is nurturing his ambition of playing red ball cricket.
A batter who can play good cricketing shots, the 20-year-old Raghuvanshi (241 runs) has displayed his ability to rotate the strike. He can unleash the big hits, handle pressure situations and has emerged as one of the most successful batters, behind captain Ajinkya Rahane (297), for KKR. Now, he wants to show his worth in the Ranji Trophy as well.

“There are a lot of ambitions. It’s about thinking of the next match… if I have a red ball match, maybe in the Ranji Trophy, then before that [I would like to] think about how I’ll score big in that match,” Raghuvanshi told The Hindu.
In his second year in the IPL, the youngster has adapted to the challenges of batting at different slots in the middle order. “To be honest, I’m not sure (about my flexibility). I have only opened (the innings) in my life. This is a learning experience for me, I am trying to do my best and grow.”
Raghuvanshi feels his approach is not different this season. “It’s just the same, prepare well, try to figure out what the bowlers are doing and react to the ball.”
His Mumbai and KKR captain Rahane’s guidance has helped Raghuvanshi. “He is a role model, always leads from the front and inspires us to do well. Also gives valuable lessons on how to go about the batting… someone I can look up to always.
“I interact with (players) from other teams, trying to figure out how they go about their game so that maybe I can inculcate some of that in my own game,” said Raghuvanshi, enjoying the support of his family.
