Pungni Tara lifted a total of 141kg, including 60kg in snatch and 81kg in clean and jerk, to claim a silver medal in youth girls’ 44kg weight category at the Asian youth and junior weightlifting championships in Astana on Friday.
The Arunachal Pradesh lifter, who will turn 17 later this month, also earned a gold for her clean and jerk performance. Vietnam’s Phuong Linh Nguyen secured the overall gold with 144kg, while the Philippines’ Princess Jay Ann Diaz took the bronze with 140kg.
