Pakistan pacer Haris Rauf has received a two-match ban for breaching the International Cricket Council’s Code of Conduct twice during the Asia Cup in the United Arab Emirates in September. As a result, Rauf had to miss Pakistan’s first ODI against South Africa in Faisalabad on Tuesday. The 31-year-old is also unavailable for selection for the second ODI of the three-match series on Thursday.

Rauf was found guilty of breaching Article 2.21 of the Code of Conduct, which relates to action that brings the game into disrepute, in the Super Four match against India on September 21 as well as in the final on September 28. In a fractious tournament that saw several controversies involving the arch-rival, Rauf had depicted the downing of aircraft in seeming reference to the military conflict between the countries in May when he was fielding at the boundary in the September 21 clash. While this led to Rauf being fined 30 per cent of his match fee and receiving two demerit points, another breach in the final resulted in a total of four demerit points within a 24-month period.

India’s T20I skipper Suryakumar Yadav, meanwhile, was fined 30 per cent of his match fee and received two demerit points after being found guilty of a breach. Jasprit Bumrah received one demerit point for his offence.
