India’s triumphant Women’s ODI World Cup squad will be felicitated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi on Wednesday evening (November 5, 2025). The team, led by Harmanpreet Kaur, boarded a flight to the capital on Tuesday (November 4, 2025) after receiving an invitation from the Prime Minister’s Office late on Monday (November 3, 2025).
This felicitation mirrors the one held for the men’s T20I squad in July 2024, soon after Rohit Sharma’s team lifted the T20 World Cup in Barbados. The men’s squad had met the Prime Minister before proceeding to Mumbai for a grand victory parade along Marine Drive promenade in Mumbai.

However, unlike the men’s team, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is unlikely to organise a victory parade for Harmanpreet’s Hurricanes.
While BCCI officials have cited logistical difficulties, sources indicated that the decision also stems from safety concerns following the tragic stampede outside the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru earlier this year, during celebrations of Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s IPL triumph.
The incident, which turned fatal, led to Bengaluru losing hosting rights for the Women’s ODI World Cup matches — paving the way for DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai to host India’s final four games, including the semifinal and final.
On Sunday night (November 2, 2025), India defeated South Africa by 52 runs to win its maiden Women’s World Cup.
