Trainer Prasanna Kumar’s filly Mountain Jewel, ridden by S. Antony Raj, won the Race2win Foundation Hyderabad Deccan Derby (Gr. 1), the mega event of the races held here on Sunday, October 5. The winner is owned by Mr. Rajendran rep. Rapar’s Galloping Stars LLP & Mr. K. Kaliyaperumal.
Antony Raj settled this daughter of Deauville and Kanchenjunga at the rear of the field for most of the 2000m journey, while the leaders set a strong pace upfront. As the field turned for home, she began to make rapid headway on the outside and came with an electrifying turn of foot in the final furlong to snatch victory from favourite Red Bishop by a neck at the post.
