India beat Singapore 3-0 in the play-off match for the minor placings in the Asia-Oceania WJT under-14 boys’ tennis championship in Kuching, Malaysia, on Saturday.
India will next play Indonesia in the match for the ninth to 12th places.
Korea, Japan, Kazakhstan and Hong Kong reached the semifinals and booked their berth in the World Group competition to be played later in the season.
The results: Play-off (9th to 16th place): India bt Singapore 3-0 (Paranjay Siwach bt Nicholas Pak 6-2, 3-6, [10-8]; Viraj Choudhary bt Matthew Tay 6-2, 6-1; Viraj & Kaustubh Singh bt Leon Ho & Matthew Tay 6-1, 6-2).
