Veteran jockey Shafiq, 76, passes away

M. Shafiq, a jockey known for his exceptional skill and dedication to the sport, has passed away at the age of 76 in Bengaluru. Granted a riding licence by the Royal Calcutta Turf Club in 1969, Shafiq, who had many prestigious successes in about 1500 wins in his career, was celebrated for his fearlessness, precision, and strategic brilliance on the track. Shafiq is survived by wife, four sons and a daughter.
