In the absence of Abhimanyu Easwaran, who has been picked for the India A side for its second match against South Africa A, wicketkeeper-batter Abishek Porel will lead Bengal in its Ranji Trophy engagement against Tripura at Agartala from November 1 to 4.
Apart from Abhimanyu, Bengal will also miss the services of its other regular opener Sudip Chatterjee, who has been ruled out due to a knee injury.
As Akash Deep is also part of the India A team, the primary responsibility of the Bengal pace attack will be shouldered by Mohammed Shami.
