With just three points after two matches, Tamil Nadu skipper R. Sai Kishore stressed that his side needs to ‘strike gold’ in the next few games.
“We have had a slow start. The first two games didn’t go as expected, and we have to go for gold now and play well,” said Sai Kishore.
The 28-year-old conceded that bowlers needed to step up and felt they lacked intensity against Nagaland.
“Initially, that energy was a bit low, but on the last day, we managed to get that back and take a hard-fought lead.”
“Even as bowlers, I would say Sandeep (Warrier) and I got our rhythm back only in our final spell. So those are good signs. Even tactically, we took some learnings on what works for us, and now need to implement that,” he added.
Meanwhile, Vidarbha captain Akshay Wadkar exuded confidence in his side’s squad depth despite missing two key players in pacer Yash Thakur and all-rounder Harsh Dubey, who are with the India-A squad.
“The players who are coming in have performed in other categories, and they know they are representing a champion side. We have a nice atmosphere and these players have a good mindset,” said Wadkar.
