What’s New in One UI 7 – Three Major Changes Coming to One UI 7
More Visual Changes
- One UI 7 comes with new, improved icons that look more modern, new split quick panel settings, enhanced animations, vertical drawer support, improved status icons, and more.
One of the visual changes to One UI 7 is the redesigned stock icons. The icons look more like they are in 3-D style with a high contrast ratio, and now they have more rounded icons. Another visual change most people will notice is separating the quick and notification panels.
Almost all Android smartphones have adopted this split-screen quick setting, starting with Android 15, and Samsung is no exception. However, you still have the option to use the default quick panel setting panel if you want to.
Another visual change that you will notice is a better animation. Here is a Twitter video comparing the animations of the iPhone of the iOS 18 and the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra running on the Samsung Galaxy One UI 7.

The One UI 7 animations are more fluid, matching iOS. Another change that might impact most users is a change in icons in the status bar. They will match the more rounded design with the Samsung Galaxy One UI’s design pattern. Not just these, there were several UI changes system-wide, bringing a more modern and rounded look to the One UI 7.
Samsung now has a Now Bar
- Samsung has introduced a Now bar in the Samsung One UI 7.0; It displays live updates from background apps, similar to live activities on iOS.
Considering the huge success of Dynamic Island on the iPhone, Samsung introduced the Now bar in OneUI 7 that will show all the live activities happening in the background. We at TechPP love Dynamic Island on our iPhones because it makes it easy to access the information without opening the tab, not to mention the cool animations, especially regarding the food delivery apps, to find where exactly the delivery is quick. It also works for flights and other useful cases.
To differentiate the Samsung Now bar from live activities on the iPhone, the Now Bar on Samsung is only visible on the lock. It can display live background activities such as sports, music videos playing, and more, and you can also press on the Now bar to expand the widget and get more options and interact with it.
If you have open multiple processes and multiple live activities in the background, Samsung One UI stacks them together, where you can swipe up or down to view all the tiles of the bar; this is very handy, especially considering you don’t need to open apps to view the information quickly.
Samsung Galaxy AI features
- With improved AI features, Samsung introduced new context-based selections, a new audio eraser, and Gemini AI with the One UI 7.
Samsung was the first smartphone manufacturer to introduce AI features on its smartphones, and it continues to add and improve current Galaxy AI features on the Samsung smartphones. I have seen on many comparisons that Samsung AI performs significantly better than Apple Intelligence or any other AI features, and the Samsung Galaxy One UI 7 gets more useful AI future edits and improvements to the current AI features.
One such feature is Samsung AI Select, which now provides contextual actions based on the content on the screen. For example, while watching a video, you can directly create a GIF by swiping at the edge panel, and if you are in the messaging apps, you can select and quickly access the quick text options.
Writing tools also get better in the One UI 7. Now, you can easily summarize and format the text better. There is also Draw Assistant, which transforms simple sketches and text prompts into detailed images.
The useful Audio Eraser lets you remove unwanted voices and background noise from the videos, and new integration with Gemini AI, which now better performs voice commands like performing tasks, finding nearby restaurants, and more.
Samsung has also started rolling out Gemini Live AI to the Samsung Galaxy and Pixel devices, which lets you interact with Gemini Live for real-world use cases using your camera and on-screen content. The update is now rolling out to all Samsung devices.
Those are the three primary changes we liked in the Samsung Galaxy One UI 7. For a more detailed breakdown, you can view our detailed guide on 10 major changes coming to the Samsung Galaxy One UI 7.

How to Join the One UI Beta Program
- You can sign up for the One UI7 beta program from the Samsung Members app
You might receive the update in the next few weeks or months if you already use a flagship S24 series or Tab S10 series. However, suppose your device is in the later timeline. In that case, Samsung has already started rolling out the One UI beta program for selected Galaxy devices, including in countries such as the US, Korea, Germany, Poland, India, and the UK.
If you want a sneak peek of the upcoming Galaxy One UI 7 update, you can install the One UI beta on your device and access all the major One UI 7 features. Known Issues and Bugs
- Since it is a beta program, users have reported battery drain issues and some UI glitches across the UI.
We have been using One UI 7 beta on a Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra since January, and we have also noticed a couple of errors and issues with the new update. Since it is in the beta program, it is anticipated that these will be fixed in the stable update. But now, here are the problems we and others have encountered.
- Design inconsistencies: One of the major changes that are coming to OneUI 7 is an improved design, and since we are in beta, we have noticed some design inconsistencies, like some lags and also unwanted blur effects that are being applied in some areas.
- Battery drain concern: We have also noticed the battery is draining faster in the One UI 7 beta.
Samsung One UI 7: Full Rollout Timeline, New Features, and Beta Info
Those are the two major issues we have faced with the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra running on the latest One UI 7.0 beta. We have also found several users have reported compatibility issues with third-party apps, lock screens, customization problems, home screens, and UI issues, and many users have reported that icons are disappearing and rearranging randomly.
We hope Samsung has acknowledged these issues and will fix them in the upcoming update, and we anticipate this will be easily fixed in the stable version of the update. If you are in beta or have issues with the stable version on your Samsung device, you can always report them to Samsung.
Those are the updates regarding the Samsung One UI 7.0. Samsung has officially announced the rollout timeline for South Korea, and we expect a similar timeline to be revealed for the global Samsung devices, including in the US and India.
