Perplexity Tasks Feature
Ever since I discovered the Perplexity Tasks feature, I have saved hours of my morning time.
Since my job involves searching the internet for the latest tech trends and doing research and finding the latest news, before Perplexity Tasks, I used to spend hours of time visiting every website, reading articles, and taking notes; however, with the Perplexity Tasks, I mostly automated this task.
Now I run ten different automations every day that AI searches the internet for me and my sources and websites, and gives me a detailed report and detailed news briefs every single day.
Unfortunately, you can only set up to 10 tasks, and the Perplexity Tasks feature is only available for the Pro and Enterprise users. Since it is available for all Airtel users for free in India, it can be a great AI agent to automate your most routine tasks every day.
Not just that, since it is AI, you can ask it to format the data the way you want. For instance, if you are a stock market analyst, you can ask the AI about the latest trend and also do a sentiment analysis to find how it is going to affect a specific task.
If you are a student, you can use it to automate the process of finding the latest research papers related to your project and offer a detailed analysis, and even break complex topics into understandable blocks for you. The possibilities are endless.
Not just that, you can also use perplexity tasks features to get reminders for price drop alerts and also for products back in stock.
How to use Perplexity Tasks Feature:
In this case, I’m using a browser. Visit Perplexity.ai, and create your account.
- Go to perplexity.ai and click on your profile picture.
- From the menu, select Tasks
- Click on the Plus icon in the top right corner of the screen and select Scheduled.
- From here, you can enter the prompt, ensure the prompt is detailed, add date and time and select recurring tasks, and set it daily or weekly, depending on your preference. You can also select a model and sources you want the AI tool to fetch data from, and more.
- And finally, click on the Save.
Analyze Your Documents Using AI
Google’s Notebook agent can run tasks for you or even automate your most routine tasks. I use Notebook LLM as a document manager to summarize all my learning products documentation, converting them into an actionable to-do list and even converting them into a podcast to listen to while I am jogging early in the morning.
The best part is, unlike Google Drive or even any third-party document management, with Notebook LLM, you can store and manage all your documents in a single place and get instant answers from your documents.
Not only summarization Notebook LLM also comes with useful features such as video and audio overviews, audio overviews which I said can be used to convert your documents into podcasts, and surprisingly the output is so good that, I use this feature often, next is the video overviews which is a game changer for students who often create presentations, with a simple trick now you can convert any documents from your storage into detailed video presentations and more.
Another useful feature is mind map which can help you to remember information in the last minute, for example if you are a student before examination, you can create a mind map and remember the concepts easily, next if you are an experienced software engineer or a manager for a team you can create a quick mind map of what to discuss in your next meeting and much more.
Most of these Notebook LLM features are available for free to use, so most of you can take advantage of these tools.
How to use Google NoteBook LLM to summarize documents:
- Visit https://notebooklm.google/ and sign in with your account.
- Click on the create new and add your documents. You can upload multiple documents and even select files from your Google Drive, paste a YouTube link or even paste text.
- Once you are done, you can check with your document in the center tab to convert your documents into an audio or video overview
- Select the Audio or video overview from the right sidebar to also create a mind map, generate flashcards, and generate quick notes from your sources if you are a student.
Fix Grammar and Spelling Mistakes Using AI
You can use ChatGPT or Gemini to fix spelling mistakes, and I have been using it for more than a year now. These can be a game-changer, especially if you often write multiple documents.
Although there are tools like Grammarly, in the free version, you need to spot the spelling mistakes; hover over them to fix. It can take significant time if you have a long document or often make more spelling mistakes.
However, you can automate this process using this simple trick. Remember, since it is an AI, it can rewrite your entire document, which can convert it to AI-generated content, so you should be extra careful while using the AI for grammar correction.
If you use ChatGPT, I highly recommend using the thinking model so that it only fixes spelling mistakes without changing anything; however, if you are on a free version, you can use this prompt and then add your text to fix only spelling mistakes.
Remember that AI tools can often hallucinate and can rewrite your documents entirely, so ensure you use these prompts correctly so that your content isn’t AI-generated.
How to use ChatGPT to fix Grammar and Spelling Mistakes
- Visit ChatGPT.com or use the ChatGPT app.
- Paste the text you want to fix and enter this prompt:
You are a professional proofreader.
Your only job is to fix spelling and grammar mistakes in the given text.
Do not change or rephrase any words unless they are misspelt.
Do not alter sentence structure, punctuation style, or phrasing.
Do not add, remove, or rearrange any words.
Keep the text exactly as it is, just correct spelling and grammar errors. Here is the text: - That’s it, ChatGPT will fix errors for you.
Automate Your Browser Tasks Using Comet Browser
Browsers are going to be the primary interface to automate most of your web-based tasks in the futurte, and while there are plenty of AI browsers that already embed AI into browsers, as of now, only a few browsers are capable of running agentic tasks, one popular browser is Comet from Perplexity and recently, the browser has been made available for all for free without a waiting list.
The best part is that it is one of the best agent browsers you can use right now. Most of the agent tasks it does are highly accurate. For instance, I build a lot of prototypes, and a few of them require me to enter dummy data, which can take a significant amount of time.
I have automated this process using Comet, so instead of me manually entering each data into the forms, Comet browser fills that data for me, and the best part is that in most cases it finishes the tasks without any issues.
However, there are times where it doesn’t work that require manual input, not just that you can use the browser for most routine browser tasks such as filling in the form details, and some even use to to finish a course quiz at the end of the video lectures, which I recommend not to, and again, the possibilities are endless. If your work involves browser tasks, you can use the Comet AI agent browser to automate your tasks.
How to use the Comet browser to automate your tasks:
- Download and install the Comet browser on your device.
- Open Comet and create your account, and follow the one-screen installation to finish the setup.
- Once you are done, go to the webpage or from the right corner, tap on the Assistant, and enter the prompt to perform the task.
- For instance, here I am using an assistant to display the dummy data to your application; you can use it to fill data, summarize your videos, and even small browser tasks like copying, signing out, searching the prices, and more.
Summarize YouTube Videos
You can also use AI agents to watch videos on your behalf and create a summary of them, especially useful for those long-hour tutorial videos or learning videos.
While summaries don’t include everything that is mentioned in the video, however, you can generate quick notes out of it and even create a quick mind map to quickly recall what you have learned from the video.
If you are a teacher, you can even generate quizzes for your students to help them understand better. Not just that, if the video is in other languages, you can create a summary and even translate it into other languages, and even ask AI to help explain it in the specific timeline, and it is very good at these tasks.
For instance, while I was researching for PS6, I could ask the AI when PS6 is launching, and even ask what the expected specifications are and more. AI can create a brief summary.
There are plenty of AI YouTube summarizers. Perplexity works most of the time better, and even Google Notebook is very accurate at summarizing the videos, plus with Notebook LLM, you can also create mind maps to recall important concepts quickly.
How to summarize your YouTube videos
You can copy and paste a YouTube video link in the Perplexity app or go to the video in the Chrome browser, search for and open the assistant, and ask it ot summaize the video. You can also paste the link in the NotebookLLM for YouTube videos.
If you use Notebook LLM, you also get additional features like creating mind maps and flashcards, and also quickly from the YouTube video source, best for students and for learning YouTube videos.
Automate Your Meeting Transcripts With AI
While most meeting tools offer meeting transcriptions, however, they often come with limitations, and to protect privacy, most organizations disable meeting transcription by default, leaving you to attend the meetings. This is where the Whisper AI agent can come in handy.
Whisper is an AI tool by OpenAI that can listen to your conversations and create a transcript for you, which you can use later to summarize notes, create actionable tasks, and even remember important points.
You can also combine it with Notebook LLM to create your meeting knowledge base and keep track of all your meetings and recall them whenever you need. The best part is that Whisper runs locally on your device, so you don’t need to worry about your privacy, and it is also free to use.
Since it is from OpenAI, it works really well at transcribing your meetings. However, setting it up locally can be a tricky task; however, you can follow the video below for a simple step-by-step process, or follow the simple steps below to easily set it up locally on your device.
How to summarize and transcribe your meeting notes:
How to Set Up Whisper on your device:
Step 1: Install Python on your device
- If you already have Python installed on your device, you can skip this step. If you don’t, visit: https://www.python.org/downloads and download Python 3 or a later version and install it on your device.
- Once installed, use the following command to check if it’s installed on your device. Open your Command Prompt (Windows) or Terminal (Mac/Linux) and type the following command: python –version
- If it shows the Python version, something like this, Python 3.12.0, that means it is successfully installed on your device. If you don’t see this, follow the process again.
Step 2: Now, let’s install Whisper itself.
- After installing Python, let’s install Whisper on your device. You can simply open the terminal on your device and use this command. Command: pip install -U openai-whisper
- Wait until all files are downloaded successfully. Once completed, you will see a message something like successfully downloaded.
Step 3: Install FFmpeg (Required for Audio)
- Next, you need to install FFmpeg (Required for Audio) to process the audio files on your device. Follow the steps below, depending on your device
For Mac:
- You can use Homebrew to install it on your Mac using this simple command: brew install ffmpeg
- If you don’t have Homebrew on your Mac, you can install it by going to this link: https://brew.sh, or you can just install it using this command: /bin/bash -c “$(curl -fsSL https://raw.githubusercontent.com/Homebrew/install/HEAD/install.sh)”
On Windows
- Go to https://ffmpeg.org/download.html and download the Windows file, extract it and install it on your device like any other software
- Next, check if everything is installed on your device correctly, open the terminal on your device, and use this command: whisper –help
- If you see options, it means it is installed on your device correctly.
Transcribe Your Meeting Notes
- Next, go to the meeting files you want to convert into audio, or you can also use any meeting files. Whisper supports the following file formats: .mp3, .wav, .m4a, .mp4, .flac, .webm, and more. Once created, save the file in any folder,
- Now, open the terminal on your device and go to the folder where you can use this command in the terminal. Command: cd Desktop/Recordings. In my case, I have stored all the meeting recordings on the desktop
- Now you can run this command to convert or transcribe meeting notes. Command: whisper meeting.mp3 –model small
- Not just the meeting, Whisper also creates meeting.txt for the transcript: meeting.srt for subtitles, meeting.vtt for captions, meeting.json for detailed timestamps, and more.
Whisper comes with different models; you can use the model depending on the file size and purpose, plus it can also translate meeting notes from other languages to English. You can use the following command to do that: Command: whisper hindi_meeting.mp3 –task translate –model small. And that’s it, you can also automate this process using the following Python code:
import whisper, os
model = whisper.load_model(“small”)
folder = “Recordings”
for file in os.listdir(folder):
if file.endswith(“.mp3”):
print(“Transcribing:”, file)
model.transcribe(os.path.join(folder, file))
Create Your Own Subtitles for Movies
Not just the meetings, you can also use Whisper to generate subtitles for any video, including movies you want to watch. Again, you can follow a similar process, select the video file and generate text, and load the subtitles text into any media players such as VLC and watch movies with your own subtitles.
Here is how to store the movie or any video file into any folder, and then open Terminal in the folder that contains the movie to create subtitles. You can use the cd [Folder name] command. Now, use the following command: whisper movie.mp4 –model small
Wait for it to run and create, and now in the same folder, find the .srt file, which is the subtitles generated for the video. And that’s it, now you can load these subtitles to any media player and start watching.
Create Mini Tools for Your Problems
Finally, you can solve your own problems using mini digital tools and apps, and you can use any AI coding agents to build tools and apps for you.
For instance, I have created my own version of to-do list apps with a Pomodoro timer. Likewise, I have also created a simple Kanban task tracker to track team tasks without complex and overwhelming features.
You can use ChatGPT to generate a detailed prompt and use any free AI coding agents and generate apps or tools for you. These agents are so powerful that they can even store your data and create product-level apps. Just note that they don’t use these apps for sensitive tasks, as they are less secure and can expose your data.
How to create apps using Vibe Coding tools:
- You can use any Vibe coding tools. In this case, I am using Lovable.
- Go to Lovable.dev and sign in with your account. The free version offers 5 credits, which you need to use to build a small app or tools of your preference.
- In the search bar, enter the prompt. You can use ChatGPT or Gemini to opise the prompt. In this case, I am using it ot create a simple to-do list ot create a to-do list app with prompt time.
- Enter the prompt and click on Enter, and wait for a while. The app will generate a tool for you.
- Once created, you can ask the Lovable agent to create and link it to the Supabase to store all your data. You can enter this prompt: Now connect the app to the Supabase and create a backend. Now the app will create a backend and store all the data for you.
- Once the stip is done, you can use it as a to-do list app to see all your tasks.
Automate Your Routine Tasks With These AI Agents
So, those are the eight best AI agents you can use every day to automate routine tasks and create new possibilities, although these agents are available inside the apps, which makes them easy to use. I only included the free version, except for the Perplexity Pro, which requires pro subscriptions.
If you are using ChatGPT, Gemini, or even a Perplexity Pro subscription, deep research is another feature that can be very useful to automate tasks; likewise, AI writing tools can be a great way to summarize and write text for you. I hope you find this guide helpful. If you have any suggestions, you can comment below.
