Instagram is currently one of the most widely used social media platforms. The reels have been a source of entertainment and a means to pass some time. It provides a way to interact with friends and family easily and share photos and videos through reels. The usernames help us find people and interact with them.
However, sometimes we see some errors like “Profile not available”. We do not see the profile except for the error at the bottom of the Instagram app screen. If you see the same error and want to fix it easily, follow the methods below. You can use the same methods even when you see the “Sorry, this page isn’t available” error.
How to Fix Profile Not Available on Instagram Error
When you tap on a profile from the search bar on the Instagram app, or open an Instagram profile link from another app on your phone, and see the Profile not available error, you can fix it easily.
Before going into the following methods, check your internet connection, and check for any downtime with Instagram on websites that track downtimes like Downdetector. Then, log out of your account and log in again, and see if the profile is visible instead of the error. If not, get into the methods below.
Make Sure the Profile Is Not Deactivated
If the profile link you have opened is deactivated or deleted, you see the Profile not available error. It will not be available until the account holder reactivates the account.
Even when the username of the profile is changed, you see the same error, as the link contains the old username instead of the changed one. You’ll need to get a fresh link to fix it.
Ensure That Your Profile Is Not Blocked
If your profile is blocked by the person whose Instagram account you’re trying to open with a link, you see the profile is not available error. In such instances, your account, as well as other accounts you use on your device, are automatically blocked on Instagram.
Go to a third-party website like InDown that downloads the Instagram profile picture and enter the username or the link. If you see the profile picture, it means your profile is blocked by the user. If you cannot see the profile picture, the username might have changed, or the account has been deactivated or deleted.
Check if the Link Is Valid
It is possible to miss out a few letters at the start or end of a link while copying and pasting it. Make sure the profile link you’re trying to open is correct and contains everything, including the https:// in the link.
When a user copies the link from Instagram and pastes it, the link contains the profile identifier too. When you try to remove the identifier from the link, you might have erased a letter from the profile name in the link.
Get the link again and try to access the profile.
Check if Your Account Is Suspended
If you have created a new account and are trying to follow people using the links shared by friends, Instagram algorithms may flag your account and suspend it, citing violations of usage policies.
In such cases, you will see that your account is suspended, and Instagram asks you to enter your phone number or verify your account. You cannot access any profile or interact with any Instagram features during this period. Verify your account and interact with the profile.
If the user you are trying to interact with is suspended for some reason, you will see the same “profile not available” error.
Clear the Instagram App’s Cache
When we use the Instagram app on our phones, every usage instance creates some cached data on the device for seamless usage and loading of features and content.
If the cached data is corrupted, you’ll see errors on the Instagram app. You may see the “Profile not available” error in such cases, too.
To clear the Instagram app cache on Android,
- Open the Settings app on your mobile device
- Select the Apps tab
- Find Instagram in the list and tap on it
- Select Storage on the App info page and tap on Clear cache
- Come back to the App info page and tap on Uninstall at the bottom of the page
Remember that options change with each device manufacturer, and the process to clear most of them is the same, but the names of the features may change.
Update or Reinstall the Instagram App
Open the Google Play Store or App Store on your device and check if there are any pending updates available for Instagram. If there are any, make sure to install the update and check if the link works.
If there are no updates available to install, clear the Instagram app cache and uninstall the app without opening it. Then, freshly install the Instagram app, sign in to your account, and check if the profile is available.
Unable to See a Profile on Instagram?
When you are unable to see a profile on Instagram and instead see an error like Profile is not available or some other error, it either means the profile is not available or the user has blocked you. Just a few checks will confirm that. When these two cases do not hold, you need to use the ways to fix the error.
