IndiGo is set to expand its wide-body fleet with the addition of two more Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft through a damp lease agreement with Norse Atlantic Airways. These aircraft, the fifth and sixth under this partnership, are expected to begin operations in early 2026, strengthening IndiGo’s long-haul connectivity from India.
This latest agreement builds on IndiGo’s existing collaboration with Norse Atlantic Airways, which began earlier this year with an initial lease of one Boeing 787-9, followed by three more in quick succession. With this expansion, IndiGo now has six wide-body aircraft in its fleet, with one already operational on the Delhi–Bangkok route since March 2025.
IndiGo CEO Pieter Elbers commented, “We are pleased to deepen our partnership with Norse Atlantic Airways by signing our third agreement for the addition of two more Boeing 787-9 aircraft. This move reinforces our commitment to international growth and our customers, promising to introduce more options on long-haul routes. As we accelerate towards our vision of becoming a global airline by 2030, this partnership enables us to bolster our wide-body operations while staying rooted in our India-first approach.”
The lease agreement, with an initial term of six months extendable to 18 months, is subject to regulatory approvals. The expanded fleet will enhance IndiGo’s ability to provide world-class travel experiences and open new global destinations for Indian travellers.
