The Indian Armed Forces conducted precision strikes on nine terror camps across Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) on Wednesday in response to the April 22 terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, which left 26 civilians dead. The operation, codenamed Operation Sindoor, targeted key facilities of Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM), Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), and Hizbul Mujahideen.

According to top security sources, nine locations were hit, resulting in the deaths of over 80 terrorists. The strikes were described by India as “carefully calibrated, focused, and non-escalatory,” with no Pakistani military installations targeted.

The government stated that restraint was exercised in selecting targets and executing the operation.

Key targets included the JeM headquarters in Bahawalpur and LeT’s base in Muridke, located about 30 km from Lahore and known to be the home of LeT founder Hafiz Saeed, the mastermind of the 26/11 Mumbai attacks.

Muzaffarabad, near the Line of Control, was also struck and has long served as a hub for LeT’s training camps and operational centres.

The strikes were carried out using Rafale fighter jets equipped with SCALP cruise missiles and HAMMER precision-guided munitions. The operation was conducted from within Indian airspace, with Indian Navy assets providing support, making it a joint air and sea operation. Special ammunition was used to target the terror camps, and no Indian aircraft were lost.

Sources said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi monitored the operation closely from 7, Lok Kalyan Marg, with regular updates from National Security Advisor Ajit Doval.

The Indian Army is scheduled to brief the media at 10 am today on the developments related to Operation Sindoor.

In response, Pakistan’s military spokesperson, Lt Gen Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, said at a press conference that eight people were killed and 33 injured in the Indian strikes.

Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif called the action an “act of war” and claimed India targeted five locations. He warned of a strong response, saying Pakistan would not allow India to succeed in its objectives and that the nation and its armed forces are prepared to defend against any aggression.
