Air Canada has announced a major expansion of its winter schedule to Latin America, marking the airline’s largest network growth in the region to date. The expanded schedule introduces four new destinations — Rio de Janeiro, Cartagena, Guatemala City, and Guadalajara — alongside 13 new routes, including Santiago, Pointe-à -Pitre, Fort-de-France, Nassau, Montego Bay, and Huatulco. The airline will also increase frequencies to popular sun destinations, with a total of over 55 daily flights and more than 80,000 seats weekly.

Mark Galardo, Executive Vice President & Chief Commercial Officer, and President, Cargo at Air Canada, highlighted the strategic importance of the expansion. “Air Canada is delivering on its New Frontiers strategy with the expansion of its Latin America presence this winter. We are excited to add these destinations to our global network, catering to both Canadian and global connecting travellers, while also capitalising on growing cargo opportunities.”

Galardo further emphasised the variety of options available. “With our expanded network, customers can easily access popular sun destinations or explore new adventures across six continents. Whether connecting from Europe to Santiago, visiting sunny climates from Canada, or discovering new experiences, our winter schedule offers unparalleled travel choices.”

The announcement also received support from Marcelo Freixo, President of Embratur – Brazilian Tourism Board, who said, “The relaunch of the Rio de Janeiro route reflects growing demand from Canadian travellers for authentic and sustainable experiences.”
